Lead Accountant-Real Estate

The FLEXSPACE Lead Accountant – Real Estate will support the expansion of the Company’s reach into real estate investment and development services within the industrial sector and primary focus across the cold chain spectrum. Services include ground-up development, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, investor reporting, operations, and asset management. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Lead Accountant – Real Estate will support the Company’s existing accounting and reporting for the investment management/real estate services in coordination with the Director of Investments and team.
Employee’s primary duties will include, but are not limited to:

Maintain a variety of accounting functions including, but not limited to general ledger records, cash, project specific revenue and costs, capital, and other accounts as needed for real estate pursuits and development projects.

Prepare and/or review monthly reporting packages – Development and Investment Management.

Ensure deadlines for month-end close and financial reporting requirements are met and all accounting and reporting activities are performed in accordance with GAAP.

Assist in preparation and/or review of annual GAAP Budgets with cashflows.

Assist in coordinating construction draws, forecasting project budgets and cash flows, and managing project deliverables by working with investment management and development team.

Prepare monthly wires for draws.

Assist with monthly capital calls or distributions to joint venture partners.

Review documents for accounting/reporting/compliance requirements including loan documents, partnership agreements, and various fee/services agreements.

Identify areas for improvement in the monthly close process and implement process efficiencies while maintaining high level of customer service to the field.

Ensure an integrated and interactive approach where data, issues and information is shared timely and broadly across the organization.

Complete various financial, administrative, ad-hoc reports and analyses, and perform other duties as assigned or as necessary to support Company growth.

Understanding of full life cycle accounting of real estate projects from acquisition, development, operations, and disposition a plus
Education and Experience:
-
This position requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, accounting, or finance, from a four-year college or university, or equivalent professional knowledge and/or work experience, CPA preferred.

3-5 years of prior experience in public accounting and/or commercial real estate accounting required (development, operations, co-investments).

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
